Kai x Luna: Kai as the popular and confident kid in Hogwarts but becomes a nervous wreck whenever he sees Luna Lovegood.

“but how could you not believe in crumple-horned snorkacks?” a dreamy voice floats through the near empty hallways as students bustle to their dormitories for the conclusive end to yet another school day. “they’re just as real as the nargles hiding in the bush right there—ah, i suppose i shouldn’t expect everyone to know about them. daddy does say…”

it is then that kai suddenly stumbles, nearly crashing into the person in front of him, who only blushes and scampers away with a feeble “sorry.” his friend offers him an odd look.

“… you okay?”

he clears his throat. “what? me? what? of course! fine, i’m fine, i’m always fine. are you fine?”

out of the corner of his eye, he can still see a certain luna lovegood rambling incessantly to some terrified looking first years. his heart skips a beat and a noticeable pink dots his cheeks as he ducks his head and sucks in air.

“i am just about ready to hurl myself into the great lake.”

kai thinks that this is unfair, how he tends to suddenly become infinitely clumsier when a certain blonde pops into his peripheral view. he thinks it’s extremely unfair how suddenly, he forgets how to make coherent words, much less coherent sentences. he thinks it’s unfair that—

“hello boys!”

and then he melts, because dear merlin, he thinks he’s lost it.

“h-he—”

“he means ‘hello,’ loony,” his friend unhelpfully interjects. kai’s lips curve into an uncomfortable grin and he lifts a shaky hand in weakened greeting.

the girl is unaffected, an ethereal smile against her lips. “i do hope a blibbering humdinger hasn’t got your tongue, kai. have a nice day, you two!”

he watches in silence as she walks away, only sounding out a feeble “wait” when luna is far beyond his grasp. everything suddenly seems ten times more embarrassing, and kai is not above writhing in agony and covering his face in shame.

“mister social butterfly fancies, above all people in the world, in this school—loony lovegood?”

“i will hex you, you git.”
